With the change of year, a new cycle begins with a renewed SPNC Board.

As usual, I have tried to bring together a team of different affiliations in this board, with the aim of uniting all the neurosurgery services in the country in the main objective of raising and disseminating the quality of what is best done in this specialty in Portugal.

It is with great pride that we see more and more Portuguese neurosurgeons achieving international prominence, attesting to the high level they have reached.

In this biennium, we will try to increase this visibility even more by formalizing training or observation internships in specific areas of neurosurgery, for national and foreign interns, in Portuguese neurosurgical centers that have the capacity and interest to do so. These internships aim to improve training in more specific areas of neurosurgery and will help to publicize and promote national neurosurgery both in Portugal and abroad.

We will also continue to support all training activities that are organized, as well as joint congresses such as the “74th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery” on June 25-28, 2023, with the German, Brazilian and Brazilian Pediatric Societies of Neurosurgery.

The purpose of this society and this team is to serve its members and we are counting on everyone to strengthen the promotion of Portuguese neurosurgery.
