HISTORY
The Portuguese Society of Neurosurgery (SPNC) was formally constituted on September 27, 1990, with the signing of the Deed of Incorporation at the 23rd Notary Office in Lisbon. This formal administrative act was the corollary of a long-standing demand by Portuguese neurosurgeons, who had fought for its creation for several years. The decisive step was taken at the Administrative Meeting of the Luso-Spanish Society of Neurosurgery (S.L.E.N.), in Funchal, in May 1989, with the approval of the amendment to the Statutes that allowed the Portuguese Chapter of the S.L.E.N. (see the SLEN Deed Minutes) to become the future SPNC. On December 17, 1989, its first Administrative Meeting was held in Lisbon, with the election of its first Management Bodies.
